The Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) was founded in the United States in 1969. Over the past 39 years ISACA has grown to be an international organisation with over 70,000 members in 140 countries, making it the largest professional body in the field of IT governance in the world.
The organisational structure of ISACA is based around regional chapters to which members are affiliated. Internationally there are 170 chapters established in over 60 countries. Within the United Kingdom there are four chapters:
Currently there is no ISACA Chapter in the south of England, with members from as far a field as Devon, Cornwall & the Isle of Wight being affiliated to the London Chapter.
With the cost and difficulty of attending evening meetings in London many current members of the London Chapter find it impossible to attend despite the impressive range of speakers which the London Chapter has been successful in attracting.
Consequently a historic meeting was held on June 3rd 2008 to inaugurate the founding of a new ISACA Chapter for the south of England. Based in Winchester the new chapter will provide a new, more accessible forum for IT governance professionals to meet and share best practice.
